Continuing Education

The doctors and technicians at UAH strive to provide you and your pets with the most current and up to date innovations in veterinary medicine. As part of this commitment the veterinarians and staff participate in continuing seminars on a regular basis.

Dr Veo attended the North American Veterinary Conference in January of this year. She focused on internal medicine seminars to bring the best of the best back to UAH.  “I love the NAVC for its variety of lectures and its world renowned speakers. It is exciting to reinforce my foundations of medicine, confirm our practice of high medical standards and take home new ideas and techniques!”

Dr Kucia attended the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association continuing education seminar focusing on oncology in May. “It was exciting to listen and speak to one of the leaders in the field of veterinary oncology.  I was able to immediately apply a protocol change to one of my chemotherapy cases and give her better quality and length of life!”

Drs Cowan and Kucia both spent a day with  Dr Fossum, one of the  leading veterinary surgeons in the country, at the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association  continuing education meeting this May.  Both Drs came away with some great surgical ideas and techniques. “It is always nice to have your knowledge reinforced and be able to bring information back to the hospital.”

Dr Cowan recently returned from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Conference in June. She attended  numerous internal medicine seminars, returning with excellent ideas and a new instrument to measure intraocular eye pressure for the hospital. “I enjoyed state of the art lectures, new research abstracts and got the latest protocols on Lyme disease.  I attended some great specialist and generalist lectures in cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease.”
