Hike for Discovery

I am raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Hike For Discovery program and I'm asking you to help by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.

As a veterinarian, I have a special interest in oncology. Over the years, I have had numerous cancer patients with lymphoma, myeloma, and leukemia and find treating them among my most rewarding veterinary experiences. I am very grateful that in veterinary medicine we are able to give owners and their beloved pets more quality time together.

Unfortunately, research dollars are not as readily available in

Veterinary medicine. Much of what we know is extrapolated from human research studies. We use many of the same drugs and modalities as in human medicine. Animals like Ketcher will benefit from this research.

Please visit my website at

 http://pages.hikefordiscovery.org/ma/Smokey 208/vkucia

There you will find all the information on how you can donate securely online and all about my hike. If you prefer to donate by check you may drop it off or mail it to us at the hospital. Checks can be made payable to:

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or  LLS

On behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I greatly appreciate your generosity. Your dollar may be the dollar that finds a cure for cancer!

Sincerely,
Vicki Kucia, DVM

Glaucoma Screening Available - Uxbridge Animal Hospital Purchases Tonopen!

Glaucoma is a disease that causes an increase in intraocular pressure. The increase pressure in the eye results in permanent vision loss through progressive death of the nerve cells in the eye. We recommend yearly glaucoma screening all dogs. Any pet can get glaucoma, however some breeds have a higher incidence of glaucoma such as the Spaniel breeds (ex. Cocker and Springer), Terrier breeds (ex. Boston and Fox) and Artic breeds (ex. Husky and Akita).OH19.jpg

To better serve you and your pets we have purchased a tonopen, which is an instrument to measure intraocular pressure of the eye. This instrument allows us to easily and painlessly measure the pressure in your dog’s eyes to catch glaucoma early and prevent irreversible blindness or loss of the eye. Glaucoma is a disease that can be treated if diagnosed early.

Call us today to set up an appointment to screen your pet for glaucoma.
